My son Felix is an amazing individual who thinks deeply about political and ethical issues. He is a complex social creature like you or I, and he gets to know people and situations at his own pace. His ASD label only tells a little about who he is. 

The main issue seems to be self-esteem and perceived self-worth. In my family, I try to lift everyone’s mood with humor or a new focus to the conversation, and those strategies usually help. I am using my skills as a writer and my experiences as a parent to give support to other autism parents on their journey. This journey was unexpected, and there are many surprises along the way. I am ready to connect with ASD parents who are in similar situations and help lend them a listening, non-judgmental ear. Let’s do this together!
